About this course: Respecting Choices® (RC) First Steps® (FS) Advance Care Planning (ACP) is the foundation for weaving ACP discussions into person-centered care and preventive healthcare for all adults, such as part of wellness visits. When integrated in the outpatient or community setting, and early in the course of healthcare, FS ACP discussions help to normalize the concept of planning and orient individuals to the importance of regular review and update of written plans.
The RC Instructor becomes certified to teach the RC ACP Facilitator Certification course. Replicating the RC approach to ACP is an important Instructor role. It requires ongoing education, competency assessment, and fidelity monitoring of RC Facilitators.
The First Steps® (FS) ACP Instructor Certification course features strategies for teaching, evaluating , and mentoring the communication skills of FS ACP Facilitators, and prepares participants to teach the FS ACP Facilitator Certification course.
